Announcing MobileCoin Radio: a place to host artistic conversation

01/22/2021

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of MobileCoin Radio. The first broadcast will air on our Twitch page, Friday, January 29th at 5pm Pacific time, featuring performances by Marty O’Reilly, Joliet4, and Graham Patzner.

The act of creation requires privacy. We need private space to transform inspiration into narrative and form. MobileCoin Radio is a place for artists to share their creations with the world, in hopes that our shared struggle with the human condition inspires a heightened exploration of our cultural landscape and of ourselves.

MobileCoin Radio is programmed by Mark Kingsley. A consummate professional, Mark has been working in content creation and production for over 20 years doing audio and video engineering while performing his craft as an electronic musician and visual artist. Originally from Boston, Mark made his way out to Los Angeles many moons ago. There he’s been performing and designing experiences that delight while simultaneously asking us to pause and marvel at our world.

MobileCoin founder Joshua Goldbard had this to say:

“Mark is an incredible artist. We feel privileged to offer him a space to curate content with our community. It’s our hope that MobileCoin Radio can create a place to host conversations in the form of visual and auditory performance, while also hosting debates about the topics at the forefront of digital privacy and Internet freedom in the 21st century. We’re excited to see how this evolves over time.”

Tune in for the first broadcast on Friday, January 29th at 5pm Pacific time. Please join us in the live chat to talk about music art and all things privacy.

Just when you think American roots music should be relegated to the dusty confines of a purist’s museum it will surprise you with a paradigm shift. Take Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra — passing through tradition, the quartet stumbled upon innovation, proving that old souls can be creatively fresh.

Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra features Marty on electrified resonator guitar and vocals, Chris Lynch on violin and keys, Ben Berry on upright bass, and Matt Goff on drums and percussion. The group specializes in roots music with evocative lyrics that are conceptually cryptic, relying on imagery and symbols to convey emotion. Artistic touchstones for the group include John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, the darkly cathartic oeuvre of Tom Waits, and the experimental arrangements of Radiohead.

Graham Patzner:

Graham Patzner is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and leader of Bay Area Indie rock band Whiskerman. Powerful songs, emotional and energetic live shows, and a signature soulful voice have made Patzner a staple in the SF Bay Area music scene for over 10 years. After making 4 albums with Whiskerman, Patzner released a solo record, “Ballads”. Patzner has opened for notable acts such as Jesca Hoop and Jon Batiste and worked with producers Tony Berg and Jeff Saltzman. Patzner recently released “Kingdom Illusion” through Whiskerman and continues to release singles through his solo project at https://grahampatzner.bandcamp.com

Joliet4:

Joliet is an independent singer/songwriter and live music streamer from Kansas City, Missouri. Her sound is unique — a combination of delicacy, power and acrobatics. Her fully produced songs lean on beats and atmosphere allowing her voice and lyrics shine, while her acoustic tracks highlight her gift for storytelling. The daughter of an award-winning Gospel songwriter, she has honed her craft from a young age. She began streaming on Twitch in 2019, where she shares her songs weekly to a worldwide audience. She is currently releasing new original music with a GRAMMY-nominated production team, including Justus West (Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, John Legend) and Jesse Ray Ernster (Kanye West, Burna Boy, Andy Grammar).
